Meet the Pack
At Second Chance Coffee Roasters, our dogs are more than pets—they’re family, comic relief, inspiration, and a big part of the reason coffee is absolutely necessary in our household.
Daisy
Daisy is a 10-year-old Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix that Colleen rescued when she was just 4 months old. At only 5 pounds, she somehow manages to pack in a LOT of sass.
She welcomed Adam as her Daddy almost immediately and has ruled the household ever since. We lovingly call her our little “pillow princess” because she prefers to perch high on the couch pillows, looking down upon the peasants—otherwise known as her siblings.
Despite being a bit of a snob, Daisy loves with every ounce of her tiny body. Queen Daisy also enjoys keeping the entire household in line by bossing around her siblings—and Mommy and Daddy—with her unmistakably high-pitched bark.
Peanut
Peanut is a 7-year-old Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix that Colleen rescued at just 8 weeks old. Weighing less than a pound when she brought him home, he was so tiny that the name Peanut seemed like the obvious choice.
He has since grown into a 10-pound powerhouse whose greatest passion in life is giving kisses. Peanut will happily lick you until you beg for mercy.
When Adam came into the picture, Peanut instantly became his shadow. He follows Daddy anywhere and everywhere he possibly can. Personal boundaries mean absolutely nothing to Peanut, and he firmly believes that your space is also his space.
Bella
Bella—officially Isabella—is a 5-year-old terrier mix who joined the family after Colleen spotted her photo on a shelter website.
She immediately sent the picture to Adam with one simple request: “Please tell me NO!”
Fortunately for everyone involved, his response was, “Go get her now.”
And with that, their non-blended family officially began growing together.
Bella is 8 pounds of sweetness, affection, and surprisingly impressive volume. She frequently gives Daisy some serious competition for the title of “Most Barking in a Single Day.”
Don’t let her adorable face, sweet personality, or possibly unhealthy obsession with Mommy fool you. Bella is a rough-and-tumble tomboy who loves wrestling and playing with just about everyone—except Daisy, because even Bella knows better.
Bandit
Bandit is a 4-year-old Husky/Chihuahua mix. We try not to spend too much time thinking about how that combination happened.
Whatever the circumstances, the result was one of the sweetest, most loving, and most handsome dogs imaginable.
In June 2025, Colleen spotted Bandit on a shelter website and immediately fell in love. She was fairly certain Adam was going to say no to another dog because they had recently lost Chester and were still grieving. But she also had a feeling Bandit was meant to be theirs.
So, naturally, she called the shelter anyway.
Adam put up a fight for approximately two minutes. Then he saw Bandit’s beautiful blue eyes and caved.
There have been zero regrets. Bandit turned out to be one of the best-behaved dogs either of us has ever had. His gentle temperament, striking eyes, and sweet personality made him the perfect choice to become the face of the Second Chance Coffee Roasters logo.
Kona & Kiki
Our youngest—and newest—pack members are Kona and Kiki, Pomski/American Dingo mixes who joined our family in August 2026.
Their story began when one of Colleen’s former colleagues needed to find homes for three unexpected puppies. Colleen immediately fell in love with the female puppy in the photos, but when the puppies came to visit, one of the males instantly clicked with the existing pack.
That puppy was Kona.
He fit in so naturally that it seemed like the decision had been made for us. But Colleen still couldn’t stop thinking about the beautiful blue-eyed female.
After about a week of persuasion—Adam might use the word “pestering”—he agreed that Kiki could join the family too.
Kona and Kiki are still growing into their personalities, but so far they are full of energy, curiosity, sweetness, and just the right amount of puppy mischief.
They love roughhousing with their siblings and, despite already being the biggest dogs in the pack at only 4 months old, seem to genuinely enjoy being “pummeled” by the smaller dogs.
We have a feeling these two are going to keep us very busy.
And there you have it—our family!
