The Art of the Fresh Start

Every bean, like every rescue, deserves a fresh start. Brewing right isn't just about the caffeine; it's about unlocking the nuanced flavors we've carefully roasted into each small batch. A little extra care in your kitchen transforms a morning routine into a meaningful ritual.

The Right Grind

Grind size is the key to extraction. For small-batch beans, consistency is everything. We use a 50 setting burr grinder for uniform particles that release flavor evenly.

Water Temperature

Boiling water can scorch delicate roasts. Aim for 195°F to 205°F. If you don't have a thermometer, let the water rest for 30 seconds after boiling.

Peak Freshness

Coffee is a seasonal crop and a fresh product. Store your beans in a cool, dark place in an airtight container to preserve their unique aromatic profile.

The Comfort of the Classic Drip

Simple doesn't mean basic. With small-batch beans, your daily brewer can produce cafe-quality results. A few minor adjustments go a long way in bringing out the best in your morning cup.

  1. Dose: Use 2 tbsp (approx. 10g) of coffee per 6oz of water.
  2. Grind: Brew with medium grind, similar to sea salt, for optimal flavor extraction.
  3. Water Ratio: Aim for a 1:16 ratio of coffee to water.
  4. Brew Time: Total cycle should take about 5 minutes.

Pro Tip: Always rinse your filter first with hot water to keep the paper taste away from our delicate small-batch grinds.

Unlock Your Espresso Mastery

The peak of extraction. Precision meets passion in every single shot. Mastering the craft starts with understanding the variables that define excellence.

  • Grind Size: Fine (table salt)
  • Dose: 18-20g
  • Yield: 36-40g
  • Shot Time: 25-30s

Pro Tip: Our darker roasts offer the fullest body.  This roast type is perfect for traditional espresso. For a brighter, modern shot, try our light roasts.

The Pour Over Method
  1. Rinse filter with hot water to remove paper taste and pre-heat your dripper.
  2. Add 20g of medium-fine grind coffee (like table salt). Pour 40g of water to 'bloom' for 30 seconds.
  3. Slowly pour remaining water in concentric circles, keeping the water level consistent.
  4. Aim for a total brew time of 3 minutes. Swirl and enjoy the clean, vibrant flavors.
The French Press Method
  1. Add 30g of coarse grind coffee (like sea salt) to the carafe. Pre-heat with a splash of hot water first.
  2. Pour in 500ml of hot water (approx. 200°F). Stir gently to ensure all grounds are wet.
  3. Place the lid on and wait about 4 minutes. Resist the urge to plunge early!
  4. Slowly press the filter down. Pour immediately to avoid over-extraction and bitterness.
